What is Osteoarthritis?

Osteoarthritis is a musculoskeletal disease and the world’s most common joint ailment. A slow but steady cartilage degeneration causes the joints to be painful and stiff. Over time the surrounding bones, muscles and ligaments are often damaged. The cartilage degeneration causes pain and restricts joint flexibility, leading to a loss of mobility, disabilities, and substantially degrading the quality of life.

Osteoarthritis

How it develops

Cartilage has a slow metabolism and takes a long time to regenerate. When the regeneration process is disturbed, elasticity constantly decreases, and the joint cartilage becomes less resilient.

Joint wear due to cartilage degeneration can develop over several years. In most cases, there is hardly any discomfort at first, making it barely noticeable.

Most therapy approaches treat the symptoms and slow the progress of the arthritic process without actually stopping it. Eventually, a surgical procedure might be necessary to replace the worn joint with an artificial one, causing further pain, complications and additional surgical procedures.

How MBST Treats Osteoarthritis

MBST® assists the regeneration of the cartilage by stimulating the cells into regrowth, helping to preserve the natural joint. The magnetic resonance therapy system transfers energy via a specifically generated magnetic field to damaged cartilage tissue to increase metabolism.

By directly targeting cartilage degeneration, the cause of Osteoarthritis, MBST counteracts the negative effects and triggers the body’s natural repair mechanisms and regeneration processes, creating an environment where the cartilage cells can thrive.

Once MBST treatment is complete, the cells are then sufficiently stimulated to continue regenerating by themselves, reducing pain and allowing for greater movement and, therefore, a better quality of life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the side effects of MBST therapy?

There have been no reported side effects of MBST therapy since it was first applied internationally in 1998.

Will I immediately feel better after treatment?
The effects of Osteoarthritis build up over long periods of time, so they cannot be counteracted overnight. However, scientific evaluations show that in more than 80% of cases, patient’s pain was significantly reduced after 3-5 therapy sessions.
How long does the effect of the MBST therapy last, and can the treatment be repeated?
Patient data shows a significant reduction in pain could be verified years after the therapy. If necessary, MBST treatment can be repeated any number of times, but the need for top ups is uncommon.
Is MBST available on the NHS?

MBST therapy is a private treatment and is not currently available on the NHS.

NICE recognises MBST (MRT) as a safe treatment and is registered by the MHRA. You can find our registration here.
